Baby Kyle's Customized Room by Grandma

Being a Crafty Mama and all... it was only natural for me to want to plan and decorate my daughter's first child's nursery.  Since the gender of the baby was going to be a surprise, I had to be creative with what colors I used.  My daughter told me that her theme was more or less baby wildlife animals and the colors were more gender neutral.
My inspiration piece for the whole nursery.  I painted it for my Grand Baby to help him with his alphabets.

A  great place for Mama and Daddy to rock Baby to sleep and bond together.  The pictures hung on the wall are just leftover fabric I used for the bed bumper and decided to make it into inexpensive wall art.  The laundry basket was handmade by my son and I painted and decorated with round price tags....yes price tags..lol and I made the laundry bag with coordinating fabrics.
These are newborn socks slightly rolled and attached at the bottom with floral wire and the wire is wrapped with floral tape, it really looks like white roses.  A creative idea inspired by one of my daughter-in laws!

A rug I found online that fit the room perfectly!

Bumper and quilt made by myself and by my mother-in-law.
Baby's corner! The half rounded window over the crib is made with 1/4" plywood and to get a the half round shape i used a pencil attached it to a string. Determine the width and the height of your project and mark with a pencil on 1/4" plywood. Find the center of the window shape on the bottom of the window, then mark with a cork board tack...the tall ones. Then wrap one end of the string to the tack and the other to the pencil. Stretch the string out to the height of your project and then while holding the string taut begin drawing arch. Then if you are handy with power tools, use a jigsaw to cut out the shape, or ask your husband like I did. Then paint it !!! The flying bugs on the wall , and the panda bear were also made from 1/4" plywood cut outs, painted, and attached to the wall with mirror hanger clips. Using the mirror hanger clips is a great idea because you don't have to drill holes in your project. My daughter and her husband lived in an apartment and couldn't paint the walls so I had to get creative with the wall art.
Something my Daughter-in law made for my Daughter.  A diaper cake! In the middle of the diaper cake on the second tier she put baby powder, bottles, and a small bottle of lotion...such a great idea.
A growth chart that I custom made for Baby Kyle =)

All this was a surprise for them and they and my New Grandson Loved it!
